Its Streak 7 got a scathing review from Engadet, which said, “When you combine its low-resolution screen, poor laptop battery life and soon-to-be outdated OS, we simply can’t recommend it.” The device — not surprisingly — has not sold well.

The results outshined HP laptop batteries for the second quarter in a row. Things fell apart in the second quarter, though, as weakness in the consumer business was not able to offset the strength of Dell’s enterprise solution and services business. To make matters worse, third-quarter revenue will be little changed from the second quarter.

Michael Dell has mocked HP’s plans to divest its PC business, so it is unlikely he will do it himself. Dell needs to convince investors that its transformation to the post-PC world will be successful. That will be difficult to do as a public company.

If you spend large amounts of time emailing friends, you’ll need a comfortable keyboard. Thankfully, the Samsung’s board has a lot of space to work with, thanks to the  Compaq Presario 2500 Battery wide chassis.

If you’ve been hunting for a desktop replacement machine to entertain you and your family at home, the Samsung RV720 is well worth considering. The excellent HP  F4486  Battery performance and crisp, colourful 17.3-inch screen are highlights, although the lack of dedicated graphics is a shame.

Sony often offers some of the more costly laptops: But in our Ratings is the 14-inch Vaio VPCEG11FX/L, for $660—and this Laptop  doesn’t hold back. It has a large hard drive, long HP 520 Battery life, and notable performance.

A 15.6-inch Gateway laptop, the NV59C70u, saw a significant price drop. And it’s also loaded with ASM 92P1128 Battery features, such as a large hard drive and an HDMI port for streaming high-def video to your TV.

Even Apple is getting into the act—sort of. The company has replaced its $1,000 white MacBook with a $1,000 MacBook Air, an 11.6-inch model running the latest FRU 42T5233 Battery version of Apple’s operating system, OS X Lion. It weighs just 2.5 pounds and was a top performer among laptops.

Our top rated this month is headed by the Toshiba Tecra R850, which has a wonderful combination of design, performance, laptop batteries life and price. It’s one of the best 15.6in units we’ve seen in a while.

Lenovo’s reliable Thinkpad T420 comes in after it with a 4-star review rating and it’s followed by solid offerings from Dell and HP NC4000 Battery .

For professionals who want lots of power, Lenovo’s ThinkPad W520 gets a look in at position eight. Users after a lighter FRU 92P1141 Battery model that still has great features must check out Toshiba’s Portege R830 instead.
