The HP Pavilion dv2 resolves those concerns, but there are some trade-offs. HP is selling the first configuration of the dv2 for $749.99.  More versions will be available starting in June.
It took about 30 minutes for me to get Windows 7 Ultimate RTM installed on the second partition (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions took about the same amount of time). Now the trick is to install Boot Camp, which includes all the drivers and the Boot Camp control panel, and lets you control other functions of the laptop nw8440 Batterysuch as mouse, shortcut key, and the multitouch trackpad.Apple includes Boot Camp on the OS X Leopard DVD; however, I ran into an error stating that it required Windows XP or Windows Vista to run. It’s been a slow week in Eee PC news–it’s Friday and Crave has seen only one post thus far–so let us quickly share information from a report on DigiTimes today. According to the report, Asus expects to bring “whole-day” RC107 Battery life and Internet storage to its Netbook by the end of the year. I’m not sure what a whole day’s worth of online storage amounts to, but presumably it’s more than the 20GB you get now with the solid-state hard drive in the Eee PC 1000.

I want address something here that’s not very mainstream (yet): running Windows 7 on Intel-based HP N5421L BatteryMac hardware, specifically on a unibody 15″ MacBook Pro.Setting up Windows 7 on a Mac is easy, just as it is with Windows XP or Vista. First, you use the Boot Camp Assistant (which is found in the Applications\Utilities folder). The application helps you resize the hard drive to create a new partition for Windows. (Pick the size carefully, as you can’t resize this partition again without having to reinstall Windows from scratch). After that, the installation starts and goes on just as it would on a PC.

In tandem with battery development, GM is working on a body design for the Volt that minimizes wind resistance, adding to improved range. The first thing I noticed about the 1000HE was the gorgeous 10″ 1024 by 600 display.  The display is probably one of the best netbook FPCBP159AP Batterydisplays I’ve ever seen and it’s one of the few on the market that doesn’t use a glossy coating.  That means you get to look at the actual content on the screen and not the bright reflection of the lights or windows.  This particular matte finish display was surprisingly vivid in contrast and it has one of the deepest blacks I’ve ever seen which makes all the brighter colors pop out.

The bad news is I have had to test it, which has been lot of work. We tested the new operating system against Windows Vista SP2 and Windows XP SP3. Overall, Windows 7 offers a much more pleasant experience than Windows Vista. Everything works more smoothly. The new OS takes less time403808-001 Battery to launch applications, and it’s nice just to browse around its functions and features. It’s also very pretty. However, it is slower than Windows XP, except for the boot and shutdown times, where XP has always been a drag.

Asus is coming out with the 1004DN netbook with a GN40 graphics chipset with a smaller 1.8″ hard drive and battery to make room for the optical drive but I’d rather have the bigger/faster 2.5″ hard drive and bigger FPCBP119 Battery. Optical drives are obsolete as far as I’m concerned and you can always hook up a USB optical drive and rip the movies you want on to the hard drive or just put a bunch of movies on a cheap SDHC flash card.

On its site, Fujitsu Siemens recommends that customers stop using the batteries immediately and operate their notebook on AC power only. The company said it will replace the X1016EA Batteryfor free.To date, the company has received four reports of batteries overheating out of a possible 250,000 units, according to the Fujitsu Siemens site. There have been many mainstream websites that have deceptively compared the Via Nano 1.8 GHz 25 watt TDP desktop processor to an Atom 1.6 and incorrectly declared the Nano the superior netbook product.But when we compare actual netbook parts and usable clock frequencies, it becomes apparent why netbook manufacturers have overwhelmingly selected the Atom.  The Atom as a netbook processor simply has better performance and451-10149 Batterylife than any other netbook processor.

For a typical street price of $375 to $399, the Asus 1000HE netbook simply can’t be beat in terms of value.  It is one of the best netbooks on the market at any price.  The netbook is a bit bulky compared to other 8.9″ netbooks with 3-cell batteries but you don’t need to carry your charger with you and the bigger size screen and track pad is a welcome change in netbook design. You can’t put it in a large coat pocket like the Sony Vaio P but the Vaio costs $900+ and has horrible 9800 Batterylife and a tiny display.

When I ran Boot Camp 2.1’s installer, a message appeared, saying that there were known compatibility issues, but I decided to install it anyway. After the installation, when the computer restarted, Windows 7’s Action Center appeared and pointed me to downloadZE5400 Series Battery the update for Nvidia chipset. The only bad thing to say about the display is that it doesn’t have a resolution of 1280 by 800 which is typically only available on 12.1″ LCDs and rarely smaller screens.  I could see a lot of demand for a higher priced premium netbook with higher display resolution and GN40 graphics chipset.As far as video playback and CPU performance is concerned, the Asus 1000HE is essentially not much different than any other 945 plus Atom N270 1.6 GHz netbook on theFPCBP159AP Battery market.  The N280 1.66 GHz processor makes it slightly faster than the N270 as expected because of additional 3.75% clock speed increase.

But I wasn’t very happy yet, though, as the right-click function, which is one of the most important features when using Windows, didn’t work with the laptop’s muiltitouch trackpad (it worked fine with a USB mouse). After doing more research, I found a multitouch trackpad update that solved it. The right-click ZE4300 Batteryfunction was now the two-finger tab on the pad. And that was it; I now have myself a Windows 7 machine running on a nice piece of Mac hardware, and everything seemed perfect.The two-finger tab right-click takes some getting used to but works great.

How it’s done: Open Labs is basically building quad-core PCs inside synthesizers. I’ve managed to get good 720P video playback performance even in 1.25 GHz FPCBP119 Batterypower save mode if the application is optimized.  Adobe Flash and Apple QuickTime are some of the least optimized video playback software on the market and they fail badly at 720P playback. Windows Media Player, VLC, and Media Player Classic using the K-Lite Mega Codec pack works well with 720P playback.  Luckily, I’ve found a great way to convert Apple QuickTime MOV files to AVI files which allow for very smooth playback using VLC using FFmpeg and I’ll follow up with a tutorial on that.

 
It was almost perfect, that is. What’s missing has been a known issue with Mac laptop running Boot Camp: the 235883-B21 Battery life. According to Apple, the MacBook Pro offers about eight hours of battery life (in my experience it’s more like about five hours, which is still very impressive). However, when running Windows XP and Vista, this reduces the life to just merely an hour and a half. And you guessed it: it’s the same with Windows 7. The battery somehow drains really fast, even when the screen brightness turned down, I couldn’t get two hours out of a full charge, even when just doing regular work on the machine.

With celebrity endorsers, actual products, and star-making parents looking for an edge, Open Labs is in pretty good shape. The company manufacturers much of its own equipment, so scalability issues might come into play at some point, but that doesn’t seem to be an issue right now.The company issued the recall for the D06 series batteries manufactured by Sanyo GS Soft Energy, a subsidiary of Sanyo Electric, through May 2006. The batteries were used in all FOMA D902i handsets and in some D902iS and D903i handsets. The issue could impact as many as 1.3 million handset 451-10142 Battery, according to an advisory the company released.
